Theatre of Louisiana Christian opens its first musical of the 2021-22 season next Thursday with the fairy tale “Cinderella,” a wonderful, timeless story filled with magic and joy.

The musical is directed by Tabitha Huffman, theatre professor, and Kate Rawls, assistant professor of music.

“Our audience is in for a real treat,” Huffman said. “Between our dynamic faculty team and the super talented all-star cast of LCU favorites, this production has more than exceeded my expectations. This Broadway version of Cinderella is a bit different from the classic that everyone is familiar with. There are many of the traditional songs, but there are several comedic and unexpected twists.  This production will be a delight to all ages.”

The tLCU production of Rodgers and Hammerstein’s classic fairy tale includes 23 people and an orchestra filled with LCU students, faculty and community members.

“I think we have an amazing show with a fantastic cast,” said Colleen Andrews, a junior at LCU who is playing the lead role of Cinderella. “I know we’ve all worked incredibly hard, and I can’t wait to perform with everyone. I hope everyone who comes to see the show has a lovely night at the theatre.”

The show runs Thursday through Saturday, March 24-26 at 7 p.m., and again March 31-April 1 at 7 p.m., and April 2 at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. Tickets are $5 for LCU students, faculty and staff; $12 for senior citizens and non-LCU students; and $15 for general admission. Group rates are available for 10 or more. Visit the website to purchase tickets, or purchase them at the door. For additional information on ticket purchases, call 318-613-4064.
