What is the Wildcat Flex Advantage Program?

Wildcat Flex Advantage delivers the most convenient and affordable way to obtain your course materials by or before the first day of class.

By integrating Equitable Access, Inclusive Access, and traditional retail options into one comprehensive program, students can easily access required course materials while maintaining the flexibility to choose the option that best fits their needs.

Students are automatically enrolled in the Total Access (TA) model, which provides the most convenient and cost-effective access to all required course materials. For most students, no further action is needed.

Students who do not need all of their materials may choose the Course Access (CA) option. Traditional retail purchasing is also available for students who prefer to acquire materials individually.

How Students Access Their Materials

Course materials may include eBooks, publisher courseware, and other digital learning tools. Students typically access their materials directly within Canvas through one of the following:

VitalSource

Access the VitalSource link located on the left side of your Canvas course.

Publisher Courseware

Access publisher courseware using the courseware links located on the left side of your Canvas course.

Canvas Modules

Course materials may also be available within your Canvas course modules through assignment links or textbook links.

Within VitalSource, students may see options such as:

Read Book
Launch Courseware
Reveal Access Code

Opt-Out Information

Students are automatically enrolled in the Wildcat Flex Advantage program but may choose to opt out during the official drop/add period. Before opting out, students are encouraged to discuss the decision with their professor.

Important Information

Students who opt out are responsible for obtaining their own required course materials.
Some courses that use publisher courseware may require participation in the program for seamless access. Students are strongly advised not to opt out of these courses.
Students may opt out of and back into the program as often as they wish during the add/drop period each semester. Once the add/drop period ends, the current selection becomes final.

How does billing work?

The Wildcat Flex Advantage fee is credit-hour-enrollment per textbook status. If a textbook is used in 12-18 hours of a student's schedule, that student is billed $400. If a textbook is used in fewer than 12 credit hours of their schedule, the student is billed $25/credit hour for which a book is used.

If a student is taking 15 credit hours (5, 3 credit hour courses) and 4 or more of their classes use a textbook, they will be charged $400.00.
If a student is taking 15 credit hours (5, 3 credit hour courses) and fewer than 4 of their classes use a book, they will be charged $25/credit hour.
If a student's schedule reflects textbook usage in more than 18 credit hours, they will pay $400+$25/credit hour for every hour over 18 that uses a textbook.
