Candidates for Graduation

As per the Graduation Requirements listed in the current LCU Undergraduate Catalog, and as per the General Graduation Requirements listed in the most recent LCU Graduate Catalog, all students must complete an application for graduation from Louisiana Christian University prior to graduation. Please see the deadlines listed below. Undergraduate students may apply once they earn 80 credit hours toward their anticipated degree. Graduate students should apply no later than the first two weeks of class in the semester in which they intend to graduate. Students may obtain graduation applications from the Registrar’s Office or the Registrar's page of the LCU website. Students who change majors or anticipated date of graduation should NOTIFY the Office of the Registrar as soon as possible. There is no need to reapply for graduation. Commencement

To allow graduates to invite family and friends without limiting the number of guests per student, we will host two commencement ceremonies this year in Guinn Auditorium. No tickets will be required. Students earning degrees from the School of Humanities and Social Sciences, the School of Ministry and Performing Arts, the School of Nursing and Allied Health, and the Department of Natural Sciences and Mathematics will graduate at 10:00 a.m., and undergraduate and graduate students earning degrees from the Ray and Dorothy Young School of Business, Technology, and Design and The School of Education and Behavioral Sciences will graduate at 2:00 p.m.

*MPAC will be available for additional seating if needed.

If you are not certain which ceremony you are scheduled to attend, you may click on the attached list and find your name, or please see Ms. Judy Boles in the Registrar’s Office.

*The attached list contains the names of the prospective graduates for the May Commencement.  All candidates for graduation are expected to attend the Commencement exercises. Exceptions will be made only for extenuating circumstances. No excuse will be granted without permission from the Provost/VPAA prior to graduation. Graduates who will be unable to attend, please email judy.boles@lcuniversity.edu.

 

*Students may place an order for a commemorative diploma with Louisiana College on it for an additional cost. Graphic Services will be available on March 20, 2024, during the Grad Fair to take orders.

Additional Information

Graduates will line up for Commencement on the bottom floor of the Guinn Religious Education Building at 9:15 am or 1:15 pm according to your assigned Commencement Ceremony at 10:00 am or 2:00 pm.

ALL degree requirements must be met including all Business Holds cleared, all Financial Aid Exit Surveys completed (if applicable), and all undergraduate Spiritual/Cultural requirements fulfilled by April 30, 2024. Diplomas and/or transcripts will not be released to students who have not completed all degree requirements and cleared all holds by April 30, 2024.

Attire: All candidates are required to be present in academic attire (cap & gown). Men should remove their caps for prayer only.

Men: Should wear white shirts, dark ties, dark pants, and black shoes.

Women: Should wear simple dresses with dress shoes. Ladies, when selecting shoes please keep in mind that you will be ascending and descending stairs to the platform.

Cords & Honors: Cords are distributed by individual departments, clubs, and organizations, if and when applicable. Persons should contact the specific department, club, or organization for more information. Students who earned an academic award based on cumulative GPA will receive the appropriate medal that will be distributed the day of Commencement. Graduation stoles may only bear the names or logos of entities (clubs, organizations, societies, fraternities, sororities, etc.) that are approved by and specifically associated with Louisiana Christian University.

Special Note: Any diplomas, that are not distributed at Commencement, will be available for pick up from the Registrar’s Office beginning May 8th.

 

Commencement Fees:

A $75 Commencement Fee is being assessed to the account of ALL graduates. Log in to portal and search “commencement fee” for payment portal. Fee payment is due by April 30, 2024.
