Dr. Rick Brewer

Dr. Rick Brewer begins his 10th year as President & CEO of Louisiana Christian University and his 38th year of Christian higher education administration. As the unanimously elected ninth president of Louisiana Christian University, he holds a Ph.D. in Educational Leadership and Policies from the University of South Carolina, a Master’s in Business Administration, and a Bachelor of Science in History from Charleston Southern University. He has completed post-doctoral studies at Harvard, Duke, and Baylor Universities.

 

Since Dr. Brewer’s arrival in March 2015, Louisiana Christian University has advanced from one to four graduate programs, added the CS Lewis Honors Program, established academic partnerships with LaTech and Community Technical Colleges statewide, additional scholarship programs, increased donor base, implemented flat-rate tuition, addressed over $40M deferred maintenance and campus refurbishment while adding over $5M new technology, lights, cameras, classroom equipment, exceeded enrollment of 300 new students for the third time in LCU’s history, and moved from .5 Gig to 2 Gigs Wi-Fi campuswide.  Under Dr. Brewer’s leadership, the University has raised over $40M from 3,000 donors since 2015.

 

A visionary and results-driven leader, Dr. Brewer and the Presidential Leadership Team’s commitment to academic excellence yielded zero findings of non-compliance for the University’s SACSCOC 10-year Reaffirmation in 2021.

 

A consultant for leading strategic change, Dr. Brewer is also an educator, conductor, coach, Christ-follower, and an ordained Baptist minister with more than 45 years of continuous service to the local church.  Dr. Brewer is a tenured Professor of Management with the rank of Professor.

 

An accomplished musician, Dr. Brewer has recorded three CD’s called “Psalms, Hymns & Spiritual Songs I & II and “Christmas,” which often provide content for his concerts in local churches and other venues.

 

Dr. Brewer serves as the Board Chair for the Louisiana Association of Independent Colleges and Universities (LAICU) and for the International Alliance of Baptist Colleges and Universities (IABCU).  Dr. Brewer also serves on the CENLA Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, the Rapides Symphony Orchestra Board of Directors, and the Louisiana Board of Regents STEM Advisory Committee.  In addition to serving as the President and CEO of LCU, Dr. Brewer serves as the President and CEO of the Louisiana Athletic Club, LCU’s for-profit business with locations in Pineville and Alexandria.

 

Dr. Brewer and his wife, Cathy, of 47 years are members of Calvary Baptist Church in Alexandria.  They have two sons and three amazing grandkids!
