The Louisiana Christian University Department of Safety and Security is a private security force employed by Louisiana Christian University. There is a core of full-time employees supplemented with part-time security officers. Campus Security’s duties are:
- To protect the students, faculty, staff, and guests on our College Campus
- To protect and secure all facilities located on our College Campus
- To enforce the Rules and Regulations of our College, the Laws of the City of Pineville, the State of Louisiana and the United States of America.
LCU Security is on the radio frequency with the Pineville Police Department, Pineville Fire Department, and Emergency Rescue (911). All of these agencies are only a few blocks from the campus and cooperate regularly with Louisiana Christian University Security.
Security officers are on duty 24 hours a day, seven days a week and strives to serve the campus community in every way possible for safety, service, and protection.
Other than the Chief of Police/Director, who is a Louisiana POST Certified Commissioned Police officer with powers of arrest, Campus Security does not have the power to make an arrest. The Louisiana Christian University Department of Safety and Security works very closely with the Pineville Police Department. Misdemeanor crimes in violation of the law are investigated by Louisiana Christian University’s Chief of Police for appropriate action including arrest. Felony Crimes are reported to the Pineville Police for investigation, possible arrest and/or prosecution. Violations of campus regulations are handled by Campus Security officers and those in violation are referred to the proper College administrative officials for disciplinary action.
Classroom buildings remain open until 10:00 p.m. most of the time. The Security officer on duty makes periodic rounds through these buildings; however, students should be advised that there are no security or staff members posted on duty in these buildings.
