Jonathan E. Martin keynotes commencement
Louisiana Christian University’s 164th Commencement will confer 250 degrees on May 4 at the Rapides Parish Coliseum. The 10 a.m. event features Jonathan E. Martin, chairman of RoyOMartin.
“The Louisiana Christian University family is honored for Mr. Martin to keynote this momentous occasion,” said Dr. Rick Brewer, president of Louisiana Christian University. “Johnny is not only my friend. He is a friend of the College, as well.”
Brewer said Martin “is a role model for college students, as he has earned a college degree, serves a community-minded company, exhibits interest in the spiritual well-being of employees, and demonstrates a compassion for people in need.”
“Jonathan Martin embodies the kind of heart and mind that we attempt to cultivate in our students through our Vision of Preparing Graduates and Transforming Lives.”
The College will bestow honorary doctorates upon Dr. David Hankins, Executive Director of the Louisiana Baptist Convention; Dr. Randy Harper, former chairman of the Board of Trustees, active trustee, and pastor of Bellaire Baptist Church in Bossier City; and Mr. Johnny Martin.
Distinguished Service Awards will be given to Mr. Byron McGee, retired Vice President for Advancement; and Dr. Ben Yang, retired music professor.
Continuing a tradition inaugurated by Brewer, several students will share aspects of their Louisiana Christian University experience with attendees.
Attendees should be aware of the coliseum’s clear bag Policy. Any handbags, purses, etc., that are not clear will be inspected by security for policy compliance.
