About Dr. Sheri Duffy, LCSW

Dr. Sheri Duffy joined the faculty of Louisiana Christian University in the fall of 2006.  She is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who serves as the MSW Program Director and a Professor of Social Work.  Dr. Duffy also holds the Erroll Dawson Jr., Distinguished Professorship in Social Work.  In addition to her work in the social work program, Dr. Duffy previously served as Chair of the Human Behavior Division for four years and chaired the college’s QEP Planning Committee.  Dr. Duffy co-wrote LCU’s QEP document (2011) as well as the BSW Program’s reaffirmation self-study (2012). She has presented at various conferences including a CSWE Regional Conference, four NACSW conferences, as well as several local agency conferences.  Most recently she spoke at the 2020 NACSW conference on the topic of religious affiliation and professional identity.  Dr. Duffy is a member of the Council on Social Work Education, North American Association of Christians in Social Work, and the Central Louisiana Human Services District Advisory Council. She is also a member of Phi Alpha, the social work national honor society as well as member/sponsor of Omicron Delta Kappa.  She has taught Introduction to Social Work, Social Work Practice I & II, Understanding Child Abuse and Neglect, Human Behavior & the Social Environment I & II, Research Methods for Social Work, Social Work Ethics, and various special topics courses such as School Social Work, Understanding the DSM-5 and Working with Children in the BSW Program. Currently, she teaches Advanced Practice courses, History of Social Work & Social Welfare, and Ethics in the MSW Program. Dr. Duffy has over 16 years of social work field experience prior to her joining the faculty at LCU. She has worked in both public and private social service agencies in Louisiana, South Carolina, and Arkansas.  She has worked primarily with children, teens, parents and couples.  Dr. Duffy also taught as an adjunct for the LSU School of Social Work as well as served as a field liaison for the graduate field placement program. Dr. Duffy has two daughters and attends Kingsville Baptist Church where she is actively involved.  In her spare time, she enjoys spending it with family and friends.
