Jacob H. Wittkopp, Division Chair

Jacob Wittkopp serves as the Fine Arts chair and director of choirs at Louisiana Christian University. Born and raised in rural Montana, he brings more than a decade of experience as public school music educator. Under his direction, his ensembles have toured across multiple states and collaborated with several collegiate and municipal ensembles. In 2016, he was awarded the Grammy Foundation Signature Schools Award as a result of his performance submissions and vision for the school music technology program. In 2017, began his doctoral studies at Boston University. While in Boston, he conducted several collegiate ensembles while also working for the Boston Children’s Chorus as an accompanist. Enthusiastic about a broad range of choral traditions and music education topics, Wittkopp has enjoyed working as an adjudicator, clinician, camp instructor, and conference presenter. His research interests include music psychology and choral sight-singing pedagogy. As a singer, he has performed challenging repertoire with numerous groups, including the award-winning ensemble, The Crossing. His other musical pursuits include music ministry, post-tonal music, and composing/arranging. He earned his B.M.E. from Montana State University while studying piano and voice, an M.M. from the University of Montana, and is currently a D.M.A. candidate at Boston University. Wittkopp is the father of two and is married to Kimiko Wittkopp, another familiar face on campus. The Wittkopps are elated that the Lord has led them to be a part of the LCU community.
