About Dr. Emmanuel Johnson

Dr. Emmanuel Janagan Johnson joined the faculty in 2019 as an Associate Professor of Social Work. He has over twenty-seven years of teaching experience and his areas of specialization include social work education, qualitative research, social work with children and families, domestic violence, child abuse, and community health.

Dr. Johnson has received several awards and has published four books and contributed chapters in several books and published more than sixty articles in international refereed journals.  He has presented papers at conferences and seminars and contributed to public, professional and departmental service. Dr. Johnson is a supervisor for doctoral students and evaluates research projects as an internal and external examiner. He has supervised nine PhD research scholars, six MPhil research scholars, and sixty-four MSW research projects. Recently he received a “Life Time Achievement Award’ from the National Association of Professional Social Workers in India (NAPSWI) recognizing his contribution to the Social Work profession at the Global level. He is currently involved in two research activities and in the process of writing a book on ‘Research Methodology’.

Dr. Johnson and his wife, Jane have one daughter and reside in Pineville, LA. He and his family are active at Philadelphia Baptist Church. Additionally, he is a member of Pineville chapter of Gideons International.
