About
Dr. Amy Dufrene serves as Director of Counseling and Career Services. She holds a Ph.D. in Counseling and Psychological Studies from Regent University and a Master of Science in Counseling from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. Dr. Dufrene is a Licensed Professional Counselor-Supervisor with appraisal privileging, a National Certified Counselor, and a Board Certified Telemental Health provider.
With more than 25 years of behavioral-health experience and over 20 years of counseling experience, Dr. Dufrene is committed to supporting students’ mental health, personal development, academic success, and career readiness. Her professional background includes specialized preparation in trauma-informed care. Dr. Dufrene is rostered in Child-Parent Psychotherapy and has completed training in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.
Dr. Dufrene also serves the counseling profession through statewide leadership. She was the 2024–2025 president of the Louisiana Mental Health Counselors Association.
A proud 1997 LCU alumna, Dr. Dufrene is married to Stephen and is the mother of two sons, Caleb and Joshua.
