LCU to kick off Walkober on Oct. 1

Celebrate the start of Louisiana Christian University’s Walkober on Oct. 1 at the Parrish Fuller Fitness Trail from 4 to 6 p.m.
Walkotber is a virtual fitness challenge and a fun way to stay active this fall while connecting with friends, colleagues and the community.
“One of our favorite fitness challenges to offer the community each fall is Walktober. This will be our 4th year to offer the virtual challenge,” said Sonia Tinsley, chair of Health and Exercise Science. “The weather is beginning to cool off, so this is a great time of the year to get more active. Getting more activity benefits us in all areas of life – physically, socially, mentally, and the list goes on!”
During the kickoff event, there will be a community walk, and at 5:30 p.m., a yoga session for beginners will be held. Those present who sign up for Walktober will receive a complimentary T-shirt.
If you can’t attend but still want to participate, here’s how it works:
- Track your steps weekly and submit them online.
- Choose your category: Individual, Student Athlete, or Team/Group.
- Prizes:
• Individuals and Student Athletes – awarded to the top step counts in each age group.
• Team/Group – awarded to the group with the highest average step count. - Plus, every week random prize drawings will be held for participants who submit their steps.
