5th Annual March for Life

LCU President Dr. Rick Brewer keynoted at the launch point of the 5th Annual CENLA March for Life — the campus of LCU. This was his fifth time to do so.

The full text of Dr. Brewer’s remarks are posted below the video.

“We are here for a very simple reason: to defend the right of every child, born and unborn, to fulfill their God-given potential.”

The first president of the United States ever to speak at the National Right to Life Rally uttered those words January 24th.

Tens of thousands attended the rally, where the president said, “I am truly proud to stand with you.”

Likewise, I am honored to stand here with you.

I am honored and also encouraged to see so many young people gathered on the Louisiana Christian University campus today on behalf of those who are the most vulnerable in our country – the unborn.

For 47 years, Americans of all ages have held to the sanctity of life. We believe every child is a treasure from God to be loved and cared for from the moment of conception until natural death.

But there are many in our land who see unborn babies as an inconvenience.

God have mercy on those who view such treasures from heaven as inconveniences to be murdered and discarded as mere biological waste.

How dare we as a culture relegate those to the trash heap who were created in the image of God.

We hear a lot about “PRO-CHOICE.”

Many of those who would seek an abortion – and that includes the men who pressure women to get abortions – those who seek the advice of the PRO-CHOICE movement should have made a different choice BEFORE the pregnancy occurred.

How about choosing to avoid promiscuity?

How about choosing to live a morally clean life?

Why not make THOSE choices instead of being faced with choosing to end the life of an innocent child?

Regardless of your political affiliation, I think we all can rejoice that we have a president who is very public about his pro-life views. And related to that, we should applaud his actions regarding religious freedom as well.

Make no mistake, however. There are those who have political power and financial might in our country who are adamant about maintaining the travesty that has sentenced multiple millions of our children to an early death.

But praise God for those who come behind us – our young people. Statistics show a nationwide shift in their views of young toward the PRO-LIFE.

Among the 1000s of teens and 20-somethings who were in Washington D.C. just days ago were students from Louisiana Christian University, rallying for the unborn.

As their president and brother in Christ, I applaud their convictions and dedication to right the wrong committed by the generation that preceded them.

These students reflect Louisiana Christian University’s Vision of Preparing Graduates and Transforming Lives because we believe that ALL LIFE matters because ALL LIFE is a sacred gift from a benevolent God.

As we march today, we will march in sadness for those precious lives snuffed out.

We will march in gratitude for those that have been spared through Christian ministries.

And we will march in hope that one day – one day soon – this  scourge of infanticide against the precious unborn sent from heaven will end and these children will be born to experience

LIFE!   LIFE!   LIFE!   LIBERTY! and the PURSUIT of HAPPINESS!
