LCU ranks No. 2 for safety and best value in state
Louisiana Christian University ranks No. 2 for the safest campus and best value in the state among the 20 universities evaluated by Niche.com in its 2026 Best Colleges list.
Niche.com is a rating and review website that rates and reviews facets of the college experience.
LCU earned an A- in safety and diversity, and a B+ in best value.
President Dr. Mark Johnson said he is encouraged by the rankings.
“We believe value is about more than the cost of an education,” Johnson said. “It is also about the values that shape that education. We are proud to be recognized by Niche as a university offering exceptional value because it reflects our commitment to providing students with an excellent education grounded in our Christian mission expressed through our four pillars of Worship, Scholarship, Stewardship, and Leadership.”
Louisiana Christian University has made remarkable strides in creating a safer campus for its students, faculty, and visitors, said Director of Campus Security and Operations John Dauzat. Through several FEMA grants, the university has invested in more AI-powered cameras, expanded perimeter lighting, and portable weapon detection systems that strengthen its ability to prevent and respond to potential threats.
“These technologies work together to provide greater visibility, faster awareness, and a stronger deterrent across campus,” Dauzat said. “The department’s K-9 unit has proven to be a true force multiplier, enhancing patrol effectiveness and fostering positive connections with the campus community. University administration has been a steadfast supporter of these efforts, recognizing that safety is foundational to learning and student success. Students have wholeheartedly embraced the safer environment, reflecting a shared commitment to caring for one another and the Wildcat family.”
According to niche.com, its safety rating is based on campus crime rate, local crime rate, as well as student surveys regarding health and safety services on campus.
The Best Values College ranking is based on net price, alumni earnings, graduation rates, and student debt, using data from the U.S. Department of Education along with millions of reviews from students and alumni.
