LCU invites public to Town Hall meetings

Louisiana Christian University will hold a series of Town Hall meetings around the state to welcome input from all those interested in the search for the next president and in the direction of the school moving forward.

Those meetings will be held:

  • Shreveport Aug. 6 at 6:30 p.m., 8617 Glen Haven Drive
  • Pineville Aug. 8 at 6:30 p.m., 1140 College Drive, Granberry Conference Room
  • West Monroe Aug. 20 at 6:30 p.m., 201 Riggs Street, Edgewood Building
  • New Orleans Aug. 27 at 6:30 p.m., 2222 Lakeshore Drive, New Orleans Baptist Association Building

Other Town Hall meetings may be planned for other cities and dates and will be announced.

LCU is currently doing a nationwide search for the 10th president of the nearly 120-year-old institution, according to Tommy Kiker, who serves on the university’s Board of Trustees and as search committee chair.

“As we continue this process, the committee and I need your prayers and ask for your input,” said Kiker, who is lead pastor of East Leesville Baptist Church. “We are accepting applications and recommendations and have spent the summer praying, receiving input from faculty, staff, alumni, and friends of the school, and developing a desired profile.”

In addition, the search committee has enlisted the firm of CarterBaldwin Executive Search, one of the top 50 executive search firms in the United States.

“They will interact with faculty, staff, students and others who wish to contribute to the process,” Kiker said. “They will work closely with our search committee throughout the process.”

Dr. David Jeffreys has been serving as LCU’s acting president since the spring retirement of Dr. Rick Brewer, who served as the 9th president of the institution since February 2015.

“Prior to this assignment, he [Jeffreys] served in an executive leadership role at the university, gaining substantial knowledge about its operations and objectives,” said Board of Trustees Chair Anthony Bunting.

Jeffreys served as the executive vice president and chief operating officer of the university under Brewer since January 2022.

“I pray for God’s leadership during this transition and as the search committee continues its important work of finding the next president of LCU,” Jeffreys said. “We appreciate the input of all of our supporters in this search and look forward to hearing from folks across the state at the upcoming Town Hall meetings.”
