About Dr. Nancy Whitlock

Dr. Whitlock joined the Louisiana Christian University faculty in 2005.  Her interests include Hispanic culture, literature, and linguistics.  The Spanish program aims to cover cultural, historical, artistic, and linguistic productions from the Iberian Peninsula, Latin America, and the United States. Dr. Whitlock specializes in Colonial and 20th century Latin American literature.  New areas of interest include U. S. Hispanic literature, a new and exciting field studying Hispanic texts written in what is now the United States, from the 1500’s to the present. At Louisiana Christian University, Dr. Whitlock serves as chair of the International Activities committee, as well as serving on several other committees.  She is co-sponsor of Alpha Mu Gama, the foreign language honor society.  She assists other language faculty in sponsoring events for language students and for Louisiana Christian University honor students.  In addition, she holds the Bell South Professorship in Liberal Arts.


Attended two days of foreign language instruction training presented by the Center for Applied Linguistics at the Teacher Leader Summit in New Orleans, LA during June 2017, sponsored by the Louisiana Department of Education. ​“Spanish Expedition Disasters: Gulf Coast Failure Texts”; Presented at the Recovering the U. S. Hispanic Literary Conference
