Dr. Walton has been a nurse for 30 years. She began her career as a Certified Nursing Assistant. Shortly thereafter she received her Licensed Practical Nursing Diploma and Associate Degree in Nursing from Wallace State Community College in Hanceville, AL.

Baccalaureate and Master of Science Degrees in Nursing were obtained from University of Phoenix and in Augusta 2017 graduated with her Doctorate in Nursing Practice degree from Samford University located in Birmingham, AL.

She possesses a specialty certification in Healthcare Simulation and as a Certified Nurse Professional Development Specialist. She has worked at the bedside in a variety of settings and in nursing administration. Her passion for educating future nurses began in 2005 as an adjunct clinical instructor. She has held faculty positions in community and technical college settings as well as in the university setting.

Her husband serves as pastor of First Baptist Church in Pine Prairie. She has two daughters, Maggie and Jordan, and three sons, Christian, Matt, and Nick. Her favorite people are her four grandboys (Hayden, Jace, Anakin, and Liam) and two granddaughters (Ellie and Baby Maggie). She also has three fur babies, Oscar, Daisy, and Harley.
