Dear Class of December 2019 and May 2020:
Following much consideration and the latest announcement by Gov. John Bel Edwards on the resurgence in COVID-19 cases in the state, I have made the decision to cancel Louisiana Christian University 2020 commencement exercises that had been rescheduled for Aug 8.
This was one of the most difficult decisions I have had to make in my time as LCU president, and it was made with much prayer and thoughtful consideration for the safety of our graduates and their families, as well as LCU faculty and staff.
To our graduates, please accept my sincere apologies that your time at Louisiana Christian University ended the way it did. Don’t let this diminish the many accomplishments you made.
We will hold a virtual Commencement Ceremony Saturday, August 8 at 10 a.m. Please send a photo of you in or with your cap and gown to jennifer.dykes@lcuniversity.edu to include in the ceremony as your name is called. The deadline to submit this photo is August 4. I hope all undergraduates and graduates will send photos this coming week to provide sufficient time for the technical production element of this ceremony to be accomplished.
Additionally, the Deans and Department Chairs for our academic programs will announce the names of the graduates in their respective academic areas. We will also recognize graduates who received academic awards and accolades this past year during the virtual ceremony.

I also want to let all know that you are invited to participate in the 2021 Commencement Ceremony scheduled for May 8, 2021, at 10 a.m. I trust you will be able to join us for this momentous event in 2021 as we come together to celebrate the success of multiple classes of graduates.
I am proud of each of you and applaud you for reaching this major milestone in your personal and professional journey. I know you join me in thanking your parents and others in your family who faithfully assisted you with financial, emotional, and spiritual support as you achieved this goal.
