It is hard to believe that I arrived on the campus of  Louisiana Christian University forty-nine years ago.  My family really did not have the money for me to attend college but I had a National Defense Student Loan, music scholarship, and an alumni Scholarship.  Forty-nine years later, I can truly say that everything that I have accomplished during my personal and professional career can be contributed to arriving on campus at Louisiana Christian University. No matter how much I give, I know that I can never repay the debt that I owe to the faculty, staff, and administrators that molded me into the individual that I am today.

Louisiana Christian University helped shape and build the person that I am today. Through my student-athlete experience I was able to  garner relationships that I cherish today.  I was provided a faith-based education in a world that is desperate for institutions that teach the truth.

I love my LCU Cats forever! My mom and dad met at LCU,  so I reckon' this "cat" would not be here at all if it were not for LCU.

LCU friendships are lifetime friendships, I believe that is due to the quality of the Christian educational experience that this dear school offers.  My life is deeper, richer, and fuller because of my beloved alma mater.

Louisiana Christian University not only provided me with a degree and a quality education, but it instilled in me the confidence to pursue my dreams. The close-knit atmosphere fostered my growth and success, and I'll always be thankful my path led me to LCU.

I'm so thankful for Louisiana Christian University.  After completing a degree in biology here, I went on to complete doctoral work at Texas A&M University and a post-doctoral fellowship at Georgia State University before returning to LCU as a faculty member in 1996.  I met Christy, my wife of 30 years, in Norton Library, while we were students.  My daughters, Casey and Chloe, are both recent graduates.  The story of my life revolves around Louisiana Christian University.  In addition to completing a degree at LCU, a student can learn about life and be encouraged to follow Jesus and can become part of that story in the lives of future generations.

As a small-town girl raised in a Baptist Church, I was determined not to go to that “Baptist school.” Yet in the Fall of 1976 I transferred to Louisiana Christian University. College was hard, but College was fun.  I received a quality education that prepared me for Law School and for life. At LCU I made lifelong friends that I cherish to this day.  Transferring to LCU was the best decision I ever made.

God has used LCU in various ways in my life. When I was a student He provided many LCU friends who offered different perspectives on the world. He provided LCU faculty who knew my name, challenged me to grapple with the hard questions of life, and modeled a real faith in God. Later, He used LCU to develop me as a professor. The commitment to excellence and the concern for the individual student that I experienced at LCU continues to influence how I teach today.

Louisiana Christian University offered me a safe and supportive environment in which to grow into young adulthood, consider best opportunities for life-long Chrisitan service, and be guided into interdependent critical thinking about major issues. Professors even outside my major discipline expressed genuine interest and care. Staff found ways each semester to make it possible financially. The relationships have stretched around the world and across the decades.

The education I received from Louisiana Christian University prepared me for a career in science.  Moreover,  the relationships I formed with the faculty at LCU inspired my own journey to join the ranks of Christian academia.  Having experienced it firsthand, I can appreciate the impact a Christian professor can have on the development of future scientists.  I draw upon my memories of being a student at Louisiana Christian University everyday as I endeavor to influence my own students in science classes that I teach.

The moment I stepped onto campus, Louisiana Christian University felt like home. By the time I graduated, I knew Louisiana Christian University was home. Louisiana Christian University prepared me for my academic future of obtaining both my masters and  doctorate, but more than that the atmosphere and community at the college helped ground my faith. The friends, and even professors, I met during my time at Louisiana Christian University are the forever kind who still continue to hone my intellectual skill and sharpen my relationship with Jesus Christ.

I have only great memories from LCU.  I met my husband Kevin, the love of my life and partner in ministry. I distinctly remember our Lambda Chi Beta "pledging" days and the fun experiences we had. I loved our social work "family" with Momma Mac (Ann McAllister). With all of the great times, I also grew in my relationship with the Lord through the many opportunities we had with student-led Bible studies and prayer partners, to name a couple.

Louisiana Christian University is where I began to spread my wings; much of this is credited to the Department of Business. During a crossroad time of my life I had the encouragement of Mr. Culp and Dr. Mazhambe urging me not to throw in the towel. They were a constant reminder that I could achieve whatever I set my mind to. Louisiana Christian University will always hold a special place in my heart. LCU is where the adventures began!

My time at LCU taught me how to turn real life ideas into action. Dr. Robertson and Dr. Reese prepared me to think and write in a way that prepared me to excel as a law student and now as a leader in public policy. I was consistently challenged to understand how the past influenced my present and then figure out how to use those concepts to shape the future in a way that glorified Christ. The access I had to both my professors and the administration were unparalleled and prepared me to lead in the real world. I am forever grateful that God allowed me to spend these formative years at LCU.

My experiences at Louisiana Christian University gave me the confidence to take my education to the next level.  It was a huge stepping stone in life and gave me the ability to learn how to succeed in the business world and in life. One of the best experiences I had as a wildcat was participating in the LCU London Program in 2001.  It opened my eyes to the world around me and gave me a true love for traveling and exploring as much of the world as I can.

Being a professor, and now the Dean of Students at LCU, has allowed me to take both my natural talents and the spiritual gifts from the Lord and use them daily. Being around students in such a transitional time of life allows for authentic relationships to form, and mentorship becomes a natural part of everyday.
