The competition, held in Presser Recital Hall at LCU, was adjudicated by esteemed professionals, Kelsey Nogic, choral director at Tioga High School; Maestro Joshua Zona, conductor of the Rapides Symphony; and Laine Miller, owner of LMB Productions.

The annual competition is limited to junior and senior voice majors. The students compete for cash awards for first, second and third places. First place is $200.

The Alsup Voice Award was begun by Helen Rougeau in 1972, in memory of former LCU Professor N. C. Alsup as a means of encouraging vocal excellence among students in the Department of Music at Louisiana Christian University.
