Bi-Vocational Pastor Certificate

The Louisiana Baptist Convention is comprised of more than 1,500 churches, 80 percent of which have about 100 in worship each Sunday. Though called by God to ministry, some pastors serving these churches are without formal theological training. And they hardly have the time or money for training because they have two or more jobs; they are bi-vocational pastors.

In an effort to assist Southern Baptist bi-vocational pastor with formal ministry education and its expense, Louisiana Christian University currently offers one primary track of ministry study, The Certificate in Pastoral Ministry, which offers 16 hours of accredited coursework, is on a course rotation to ensure the program can be completed in one year. And tuition and fees are waived. The only cost to students is for textbooks.

The certificate program is significant financially, academically, and practically. The Certificate in Pastoral Ministry prepares students for pulpit ministry and biblically sound preaching and teaching. The program offers accredited bachelor’s level curriculum hours that are transferable toward a BA in Missions and Ministries should the bi-vocational minister seek an undergraduate degree.
