Louisiana Christian University welcomes seven faculty

Louisiana Christian University adds seven faculty members from across the United States and around the globe.

“These gifted academes are world-class,” said Dr. Rick Brewer, president of Louisiana Christian University. “They have excelled in their education. They have written books and journal articles and led conferences. My interviews with each one gives me confidence that these stellar educators will significantly enhance the rich and commendable academic heritage of Louisiana Christian University.”

With global experience in conducting, teaching, and performing, Dr. Joshua Davis comes from the University of Florida with a PhD in Music Education and will serve as Director of Bands. He earned a Master of Arts in Curriculum and Instruction with a minor in music, as well as a Bachelor of Music Education from Tennessee Technological University.

Dr. David Hill comes from Pensacola Christian College to serve as Assistant Professor of Theory and Piano.  He holds a Doctor of Musical Arts, Piano Performance, Pedagogy, and Literature, from James Madison University. He earned his MA and BA in Piano Performance from Pensacola Christian College. Hill has international recital experience and has won a Top Teacher Award from Steinway and Sons.

Louisiana Christian University’s new Assistant Professor of History is Dr. Mark Janzen. He earned a PhD in history from the University of Memphis, Memphis, Tenn.; an MA in Biblical and Near Eastern Archaeology from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School, Trinity International University in Deerfield, Ill., (magna cum laude); and a BA in Biblical Languages (summa cum laude) from Central Bible College in Springfield, Mo.

Dr. Emmanuel Johnson is Associate Professor of Social Work (MSW Program) and comes to Louisiana Christian University from the University of West Indies, St. Augustine Campus, Trinidad and Tobago, where he was Senior Lecturer and Coordinator of the Social Work Unit. He earned a BA in English Literature, an MA in Social Work, and a PhD in Social Work at the Bharathiar University, in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, South India.

Dr. Paul Lambach holds a PhD in Old Testament and an MDiv from Mid-America Baptist Theological Seminary in Germantown, Tenn. He has extensive ministry experience in various church roles and has served as a career missionary in Theological Education and Mobilization in Brazil for the International Mission Board of the Southern Baptist Convention. Lambach is Visiting Professor of Missions and Ministries.

With more than 20 years of experience in higher education instruction, Dr. Francis J. Powell is Louisiana Christian University’s new Associate Professor of Social Work (MSW Program). He holds a PhD in Social Work from Louisiana State University, Baton Rouge, La.; an MSW with a mental health concentration from Grambling State University, Grambling, La.; and a BSW from Jackson State University, Jackson, Miss.

Dr. Shaohui “John” Wang serves Louisiana Christian University as Assistant Professor of Mathematics.  He holds a PhD and MS in Mathematics from the University of Mississippi, an MS in Operations Research and Cybernetics, Central China Normal University; and a BS in Mathematics and Applied Mathematics, Hubei University, Hubei Province, China. Wang was Assistant Professor of Mathematics at Savannah State University in Savannah, Ga.

“Doubtlessly, these professorial additions bring brilliance to our multi-faceted faculty,” Brewer said. “Although they come from different parts of the world and have an array of academic training, they share one very important aspect and that is a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. This is the primary qualification that enables our faculty to effectively employ our Vision of Preparing Graduates and Transforming Lives.”
