A Financial Aid Counselor assists with the Universityβs financial aid program by ensuring the applicants receive assistance in the application process for loans, grants and scholarships for undergraduate and graduate students.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTION:Β
- Process all financial aid for undergraduate & graduate students, this includes institutional & outside scholarships, federal loans, federal work-study, state & federal grants & TOPS.
- Maintaining the studentβs financial aid files
- Basic secretarial duties: answering the phone, filing, assisting students who come into the lobby for financial aid help.
- Assisting with maintaining Federal work-study for students. This includes checking eligibility, creating work-study agreements and making sure all work-study timesheets are turned in and calculated correctly before turning them over to Payroll.
- Assisting students with any FAFSA or studentaid.gov issues they may have
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Β
- Collaborates with other departments on campus.
- Performs other duties as requested.
- Will be required to work a few Saturdays a year for special events i.e. Front of the Line, Preview Day
- May be asked to visit local High Schools for special FAFSA workshops we are invited to.
