About
Mrs. McLaren grew up in the small town of Jena, Louisiana, where she has fond memories of her childhood spent with her mother, father, and younger brother. After graduating from Jena High School, she attended Louisiana State University at Alexandria, where she earned her Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN). She then continued her education at Northwestern State University, earning her Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN). Mrs. McLaren is currently nearing completion of her master’s degree in nursing education.
Throughout her nursing career, Mrs. McLaren has gained experience in a variety of specialties, including emergency nursing, ICU/CVICU, psychiatric nursing, and hospice care. Of all the areas in which she has worked, ICU/CVICU nursing has remained her favorite. As Mrs. McLaren would say, “ICU/CVICU was my jam.”
Mrs. McLaren’s personal life centers around three things she holds most dear: her faith in God, her husband, Zack, and their two children, Zayden and Adalynn Grace. She has cherished the time she has spent as a stay-at-home mother and is excited to begin the next chapter of her career in nursing education.
Outside of academia, Mrs. McLaren enjoys spending time with her family and finds joy in baking sourdough, reading, and preparing meals for those she loves. These hobbies allow her to embrace her creativity and, most importantly, spend quality time with her family.
