Yes. Access to course materials included through the Wildcat Flex Advantage Program will be removed after you opt out.

Some courses use publisher courseware instead of a directly linked eBook. Check the left-hand Canvas navigation menu for a link labeled with the publisher's name, such as McGraw Hill, Pearson, Cengage, or Hawkes Learning.

You should also check your Canvas modules for textbook, course-material, or publisher links.

Courseware is an interactive learning platform provided by a publisher. It may include:

• Homework assignments
• Quizzes and exams
• Videos
• Automatic grading
• Canvas gradebook integration
• Adaptive learning tools

An access code is a unique code used to activate publisher courseware or digital textbook content.

Access codes may be available through the Reveal Access Code button in VitalSource.

OER stands for Open Educational Resource. OER materials are free educational resources used in a course and provided at no cost to students.

These materials may appear directly in Canvas, as downloadable PDFs, through external links, or on publisher websites.

Your instructor has indicated that no paid textbook or course material is required for the course.

Your professor may still provide free readings, OER materials, PDFs, websites, or other resources through Canvas.

Publisher courseware often integrates directly with Canvas to provide access to assignments, quizzes, textbooks, grade syncing, and other course tools.

Opening the publisher's website directly instead of using the Canvas link may result in a paywall or prevent the course from connecting properly.

Yes. Students may purchase physical textbooks independently when available. Physical books are not included through the Wildcat Flex Advantage Program and may result in additional costs.

Students should verify the correct title, edition, and ISBN through their syllabus or professor before purchasing a physical book.

The Wildcat Flex Advantage fee is credit-hour-enrollment per textbook status. If a textbook is used in 12-18 hours of a student's schedule, that student is billed $400. If a textbook is used in fewer than 12 credit hours of their schedule, the student is billed $25/credit hour for which a book is used.

Example

• If a student is taking 15 credit hours (5, 3 credit hour courses) and
  4 or more of their classes use a textbook, they will be charged $400.00.
• If a student is taking 15 credit hours (5, 3 credit hour courses) and
  fewer than 4 of their classes use a book, they will be charged
  $25/credit hour.
• If a student's schedule reflects textbook usage in more than 18 credit
  hours, they will pay $400 + $25/credit hour for every hour over 18 that
  uses a textbook.
