About
Dr. Amelia D. Davis is an esteemed educator and nursing professional who began her service as the Dean of Nursing and Allied Health August 15th. With over 18 years of nursing experience and more than 14 years dedicated to nursing education, Dr. Davis has made significant contributions to the field through various leadership roles and innovative initiatives.
Dr. Davis began her nursing career after earning her Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) and Master of Science in Nursing Education (MSN) from Alcorn State University. She later achieved her PhD in Nursing Education and Administration from William Carey University, solidifying her expertise in the discipline. Throughout her career, she has held a variety of influential positions, including Regional Dean of Nursing at Unitek Learning and Interim Director of the School of Nursing at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University (NCAT). In her role at NCAT, she also served as the Coordinator of Simulation and Clinical Learning, where she played a vital role in enhancing nursing education through innovative simulation strategies.
Before her tenure at NCAT, Dr. Davis was Simulation Faculty at Franciscan Missionaries of Our Lady University (FRAN-U), where she led the accreditation process for the Simulated Environment Teaching Hospital. She also made her mark at Alcorn State University, where she implemented a Title III Grant aimed at developing a simulated teaching hospital, significantly enriching the learning environment for nursing students.
Dr. Davis is actively involved in the nursing community as a member of Sigma Theta Tau and The International Nursing Association for Clinical Simulation and Learning. She has contributed to the development of future nursing leaders as a member of the HBCU Planning Committee for the HBCUs Nursing Programs Leadership Summit. Furthermore, she co-principal investigated a prestigious $3.25 million grant from the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), which awarded nursing scholarships to disadvantaged students.
A sought-after speaker, Dr. Davis has presented at numerous local and national conferences on topics related to nursing education and simulation, demonstrating her commitment to advancing the field. She regularly participates in workshops and conferences focused on healthcare simulation and nursing education, ensuring that she remains at the forefront of industry trends and best practices.
Beyond her professional accomplishments, Dr. Davis is a dedicated mother to two children: Christopher, a sophomore at Fayette Technical College in Fayetteville, NC, and Demi, a high school freshman. She is a member of Holy Family Catholic Church. In her spare time, she enjoys traveling, watching television, and indulging in her passion for shopping.
