Linda Stringfield, MSN RN

Assistant Professor for School of Nursing and Allied Health

Linda’s nursing career began in 1988 when she graduated from LSU-A with an ASN. She built my knowledge base of clinical nursing working at Rapides Regional Medical Center in Alexandria Louisiana.  While there, she was able to achieve my BSN from Northwestern Stated University Natchitoches Louisiana.  During my time at RRMC , she moved to the cardiac cath lab and also worked in ICU when needed.  Here she taught ACLS and some basic EKG classes. After gaining experience in critical care in these areas Linda moved to Huey P. Long Medical in Pineville Louisiana where she worked as an ICU and ER nurse.  As she progressed in her career, Linda moved to south Louisiana where she is originally from and worked at Hospice of St. Tammany for a few years.  While there she was able to achieve an MSN from Loyola University in New Orleans Louisiana in nursing management and was offered a position of Critical Care Director in her hometown of Franklinton Louisiana.  While there, I used my experience in cardiac, ER, ICU and nursing management to assist in the development of a cardiac cath lab as well as a successful Telestroke program for the small critical access hospital in Franklinton Louisiana.  As time passed, she realized that she missed the Central Louisiana area and decided to move back to Alexandria and accepted a nursing faculty position at LCU.  She believes that nursing has always faced difficult challenges, none more daunting than the Covid 19 pandemic. She also believes that we have faced these challenges with fortitude and courage and that we must be committed to the nurses of the future to share our knowledge and experience through sound nursing education.
