About Charlotte Smith
Charlotte Smith joined the LCU faculty in 2020 as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker/Board Approved Clinical Supervisor. She serves as an Assistant Professor of Social Work in the MSW program while also providing supervision to students through their field placements. Charlotte has over 30 years of clinical social work experience which includes 25 years with school-based health centers. During her time with school-based health, she provided individual, group, and family counseling to students ranging in ages from 4-18. She also served as the clinical supervisor for 17 school-based health centers in central Louisiana. Charlotte developed a psychiatric home health program in which she served as the clinical supervisor for 8 years. She has experience with inpatient/outpatient psychiatric care with adults and geriatric patients as well as 10 years outpatient services for clients with addiction. As a BACS she has supervised 11 MSW graduates for their Louisiana state boards, in which 7 individuals have passed their LCSW, 2 are applying to test, and 1 is currently in supervision. Charlotte is happily married with 4 adult children and 3 grandchildren. She attends Calvary Baptist Church and enjoys serving her community.
